What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is guided hypnosis, or a trance state achieved with the help of a clinical hypnotherapist like me. This trance state is similar to being  absorbed in a book,  a film or music. It resembles a guided meditation. You are deeply relaxed and suggestible to new ideas. In this state, you can turn your attention completely inward to find and utilize the natural resources deep within yourself that can help you make changes or regain control in certain areas of their life.



When It’s Used

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy used alongside other psychological interventions and has many applications. Hypnotherapy can be used to treat anxiety, fears, phobias, depression, substance abuse, undesirable spontaneous behaviours, and bad habits. It can be used to help improve sleep,  communication, and relationship issues. Hypnotherapy can aid in pain management and help resolve a variety of medical conditions which have a psychological component. It can also be used to revisit earlier point in your life to release trauma. Some clients benefit from past life regression where greater understanding of current issues can be gained.

What to Expect

Clinical hypnotherapy is performed in a calm environment. I will guide you into a relaxed, focused state and ask you to think about experiences and situations in positive ways that can help you change the way you think and behave. Unlike some dramatic portrayals of hypnosis in movies, books, or on stage, you will not be unconscious or asleep, or in any way out of control of yourself. You will hear my suggestions, but it is up to you to decide whether or not to act on them.

How It Works

Hypnosis is  a tool that helps various types of therapies and medical or psychological treatments. I am also trained in integrated psychotherapy and counselling so I use these interventions alongside hypnosis to increase its effectiveness. It is true that some people are more suggestible than others but even extreme sceptics can be helped. You don’t have to worry about being in a deep trance. Light trance states can be effective too. If you can relax you are hypnotised. Your own desire for change is the most important factor. All the answers you need are within your own unconscious mind and the trance state can unlock this inner wisdom.
