Fear of flying is really a kind of phobia. These kinds of fears can be learned behaviour. You may have picked up others anxiety about being on an aeroplane. You may have had an experience which gave you a heightened state of anxiety which has caused an association in your mind making you worry about flying. It’s like the fear has been installed like software into your brain. It keeps looking for more evidence to support this belief.
The good news is you can change this fear by installing new software into your mind: new more helpful beliefs. Your subconscious mind is just trying to protect you but it is overdoing it.
