Hypnotherapy is the main plank of my therapeutic approach because I find it to be very effective and fast. However, I also offer psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is a talking therapy. It used to treat emotional and mental health issues. The relationship between the therapist and client is crucial to create change. Some clients may prefer psychotherapy if they have worries about being hypnotised or they are looking for long term treatment. Psychotherapy is much less directive than hypnotherapy and the client is doing more of the work, discussing their thoughts and feelings at length. There is an emphasis on the past and the way it has affected the present. Working through issues like this gives the client insight into themselves and enables change.
How can psychotherapy benefit me?
I can offer an environment in which you can:
- express your feelings
- gain a deeper insight into the issues you face
- gain self-awareness
Psychotherapy sessions are confidential. This means that you can talk about things you might not feel be able to discuss with anyone else.
I will aim to help you find better ways to cope, or bring about changes in the way you think and behave to improve your mental and emotional wellbeing.
How many sessions will I have?
Psychotherapy can be long term. The number of sessions will depend on you and the depth and complexity of the issues you want to resolve. It is unusual for therapy to last for less than six sessions. Some clients want to continue for many years.
