Dealing with Bullying

Bullying seems an ever present problem in our society. It can happen in the family, at school or at work.

I feel an expert in the area due to the amount of times I have been the brunt of it. I used to think there was something inherently wrong with me that it happened to me so often. Through therapy I can now reframe it and see it differently.

The truth is there is something wrong with the people who bully. They don’t like themselves and try to diminish you to make themselves feel better.

They will often criticise you for the very things that are wrong with them. This is called projection in therapy. My mother would call me fat on the phone every week when in fact she is the one who is seriously overweight.

At work people may bully you because they are jealous of your skills and talents. Pretty girls get bullied because of their looks. It can be about anything.

The thing to remember is that there is nothing wrong with you. Bullies are operating from a deep inner wound. You don’t have to be like them. You can heal with psychotherapy or hypnotherapy.

Learn to love yourself and feel good about yourself from the inside. Take back your power and shine.
