We spend a lot of time pushing down our feelings and trying not to feel them. We escape from our feelings through alcohol and drugs or other distractions.
We also tend to feel that some feelings are inherently bad. We may be ashamed of feeling anger or sadness.
One way of healing is to feel your feelings fully. Just allow a feeling to come. Feel where it is in your body. Embrace it. Allow it in. Sit with it.
There are no good or bad feelings. They are just feelings. They may be trying to tell you something. Notice them. Observe them.
Meditation is a way of observing them. You can also deal with your feelings by talking them through with a therapist.
