Grounding for Panic Attacks

If you find yourself in the midst of a panic attack it is important to have coping skills. One way of managing your anxiety is to ground yourself in the present moment.

A simple method is to think of a colour and look for how many things of that colour you can see around you. You could pick green. As I look around myself now I can see green in the patterns of the curtains, the painting in front of me, the carpet, a pen, the hedge outside the window…

While counting you are bringing yourself back to the present. You are giving your mind something to focus on instead of being anxious.

Try it for yourself.

There are many more tools for coping with anxiety you can learn during hypnotherapy sessions.
