We are all feeling the effects of the corona virus pandemic now. Many people are feeling anxious. While this is understandable and some worry works to keep you safe too much fear is not going to do you any good either mentally or physically.
One of the best things to do in this situation is to pay attention to your breath. Just sit and notice how you are breathing. Is it shallow and just reaching your chest? This is how most of us breathe most of the time.
Concentrate on lengthening your breath. Breathe in and count to seven. Breathe out and count to 11. Take long, slow, regular breaths.
Just think only of your breath. Pull the air right into your body and down into your belly. When you breathe out imagine you are getting every last molecule of air out of your lungs. It’s good to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.
After a while go back to normal breathing. Spend time in meditation. Just close your eyes and observe your thoughts. Just let them float by. Pay no attention to them. Pull yourself back into the present moment. You are sitting here. Breathing. All is well. Start with a few minutes and lengthen the time each day.
